Pineapple, Ginger and Cinnamon Smoothie

Taste

Sweet and tropical, creamy from the banana, with a warming ginger kick and a soft cinnamon finish.

About this smoothie

Pineapple brings juicy sweetness and a bright acidity, and it contains the enzyme bromelain, which is why fresh pineapple can taste slightly prickly on the tongue. Banana and apple add body and a rounder sweetness. Ginger and cinnamon turn the drink into something unusual: fruity at first, then pleasantly warm and spiced.

The combination works in every season, but it feels especially good on cool mornings. It is also a nice alternative to hot drinks for people who like spiced flavours.

Bartender tips

  • Ceylon cinnamon tastes softer and finer than cassia.
  • Frozen pineapple chunks make the smoothie thicker and colder.

Variations

Turmeric twist
Add a pinch of ground turmeric for a golden colour and an earthy note.
