Apple Smoothie with Fresh Mint

Crisp apple and cool mint taste like a glass of fresh air. A handful of spinach gives the smoothie its light green colour without changing the flavour.

About this smoothie

This is one of the lightest smoothies in the collection: apples, mint, a little spinach and water. Apples provide sweetness, juiciness and fibre, mostly in the skin. Mint gives a cool, clean finish, and a few leaves are enough to flavour the whole glass. Because there is no banana or dairy, the texture is thinner and the taste very fresh. It suits hot days and a light start to the morning.

Bartender tips

  • Use a sweet, aromatic apple variety; sour apples make the drink sharp.
  • Blend in two or three ice cubes on hot days for extra chill.

Variations

With lime
Add a teaspoon of lime juice for a sharper, more refreshing finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use dried mint?

Fresh mint is much better here; dried mint tastes flat in cold drinks.

Is it vegan?

Yes, all ingredients are plant based.

Why does it separate?

Apple smoothies without banana separate after a while. Just stir or shake before drinking.
