Kiwi and Orange Smoothie

Sharp kiwi meets juicy orange in a smoothie that wakes you up. Blending the whole peeled orange rather than just the juice keeps the fibre and gives the glass more body.

About this smoothie

Kiwis and oranges are both well known for being rich in vitamin C, so this is a classic winter smoothie when both are in season. The kiwi brings a tangy, slightly tropical flavour and tiny black seeds, the orange adds juiciness and sweetness.

With water as the only liquid, the drink stays light and very fruity. It suits breakfast or a mid morning break, and it is naturally vegan.

Bartender tips

  • Ripe kiwis give slightly under the thumb; hard ones taste sharp.
  • Do not blend too long, or the crushed kiwi seeds can taste slightly bitter.

Variations

Creamier
Add half a banana for more body and sweetness.
