Kiwi brings a bright, tangy base, pomegranate seeds add juicy tartness. Half a banana softens both, and coconut water keeps the drink cool and light.

About this smoothie

Kiwis are known to be rich in vitamin C and give smoothies a lively acidity and a fresh green colour. Pomegranate seeds add a darker, more complex tartness; blended, they tint the smoothie a muddy olive shade, which is normal.

The banana balances the acidity and adds body, coconut water provides a gentle sweetness. The smoothie fits well as a fresh start to the day or a light snack in the afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Blend only briefly after adding kiwi: over-blended kiwi seeds can taste slightly bitter.
  • Keep a few pomegranate seeds aside and scatter them on top.

Variations

Creamy
Replace half the coconut water with natural yoghurt.
