Banana Almond Smoothie with Strawberry Jam

A spoonful of strawberry jam is a handy trick when there are no fresh berries at home. It gives banana and almond milk a sweet, fruity note.

About this smoothie

This smoothie is a simple pantry recipe: ripe banana and pear provide body and natural sweetness, almond milk a light, slightly nutty base, and strawberry jam brings berry flavour and a pale pink colour. Because jam contains a good amount of sugar, one tablespoon is enough. It tastes a little like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the peanut, and works as a sweet breakfast or an afternoon treat.

Bartender tips

  • Choose a jam with a high fruit content for more flavour and less sugar.
  • A teaspoon of almond butter strengthens the almond flavour.

Variations

With fresh strawberries
Replace the jam with 80 g fresh or frozen strawberries.
