Passion Fruit Pineapple Smoothie

Two of the most aromatic tropical fruits meet in this smoothie. Banana softens their acidity, and a little mint and rocket give it a fresh green edge.

About this smoothie

Pineapple and passion fruit both combine sweetness with a pronounced acidity, so together they taste bright and intensely tropical. Pineapple is a good source of vitamin C, and passion fruit adds a floral perfume and edible seeds. Half a banana makes the texture smoother, while mint and a small amount of rocket add a subtle herbal, peppery note.

The original recipe listed no pineapple despite its name; this version adds it, as the title promises. It is a light, refreshing smoothie for a warm morning or afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Use very ripe pineapple: it should smell sweet at the base.
  • The rocket is optional; leave it out for a purely fruity version.

Variations

Creamy
Replace the water with coconut milk drink for a piña colada style smoothie without alcohol.
