Apple Pear Smoothie with Avocado

Avocado turns this light apple and pear smoothie into something velvety and filling. The fruit stays in front, the avocado just gives texture and a soft green colour.

Apple Pear Smoothie with Avocado

Taste

Creamy and velvety with sweet pear, a fresh apple note and a soft, rounded finish.

About this smoothie

Apples and pears are available all year and are among the most affordable smoothie fruits. Blended whole, they keep their fibre, which gives the drink body and a naturally sweet base. Half an avocado makes the smoothie as creamy as one made with yoghurt, while keeping it plant based; it also adds mostly unsaturated fats that make the drink more satisfying. With water as the only liquid, the flavour stays fresh and fruity. A good breakfast smoothie that keeps you going until lunch.

Bartender tips

  • A squeeze of lime juice brightens the flavour and keeps the colour fresh.
  • If it is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time.

Variations

With spinach
Add 20 g baby spinach for a deeper green colour and extra greens.

Frequently asked questions

Does it taste of avocado?

Only faintly; pear and apple dominate.

Is it vegan?

Yes. It contains only fruit and water.

Can I prepare it the night before?

Better not: avocado browns and the smoothie loses its fresh colour.
