About this smoothie

Banana is the classic smoothie thickener: it adds body and sweetness and softens tart fruit. Here it balances blackberries and raspberries, two of the more acidic berries. Both berries are known for their fibre content. Coconut milk drink and a teaspoon of coconut oil give a round, tropical creaminess without dairy. The smoothie is filling enough for breakfast and light enough for an afternoon snack.

Bartender tips

  • Strain through a fine sieve if you want to remove the berry seeds.
  • A frozen banana makes the smoothie especially thick and cold.

Variations

Without coconut oil
Leave out the oil for a lighter version; the coconut milk still brings enough flavour.
