Nashi Pear and Pineapple Smoothie with Papaya

Taste

Light and juicy, crisp nashi freshness with tangy pineapple and soft, sweet papaya.

About this smoothie

Nashi pears, also called Asian pears, are round and crisp with a very juicy, mildly sweet flesh. They are less creamy than European pears, so the smoothie stays light and refreshing. Pineapple brings tangy sweetness, and papaya adds a soft, honey-like body and its orange colour.

If you cannot find nashi pears, a regular juicy pear works too. This smoothie is a nice change from everyday fruit and works well for breakfast or as a fresh afternoon drink.

Bartender tips

  • Nashi pears stay crisp even when ripe, so choose fragrant fruit without bruises.
  • A squeeze of lime brings out the papaya flavour.

Variations

Mango version
Replace the papaya with mango for a stronger tropical taste.
