Pineapple Smoothie with Blackberries

Only two fruits, and both have plenty to say. Pineapple brings juicy sweetness, blackberries a dark colour and a tart, wine-like note.

About this smoothie

Blackberries and pineapple come from completely different climates, yet their flavours fit together well: both are sweet and sour, and the blackberries add a slightly earthy depth to the tropical pineapple.

Blackberries contain fibre and vitamin C, pineapple is known for its vitamin C as well. Without banana or dairy the smoothie stays thin and refreshing, closer to a juice than a shake. It is vegan if sweetened with agave syrup and works well on a warm morning.

Bartender tips

  • Strain through a sieve if you dislike blackberry seeds.
  • For more body, add half a banana or a few spoons of yoghurt.

Variations
