Pineapple, Blackberry and Green Apple Smoothie

Blackberries give this smoothie its deep colour, pineapple its tropical juiciness and green apple a crisp, sour edge. It is one of the tangier smoothies, bright and very refreshing.

Pineapple, Blackberry and Green Apple Smoothie

Taste

Tangy and juicy, with dark blackberry, tropical pineapple and a crisp green apple finish.

About this smoothie

All three fruits here bring acidity, which makes the smoothie lively rather than sweet. Blackberries add their dark colour, fibre and some vitamin C, pineapple contributes plenty of juice and vitamin C, and a green apple gives crispness and more tartness.

If you prefer it milder, a red apple or half a banana brings more sweetness. Made with water, the smoothie is light and fresh, a good choice for a warm day or as a wake-up drink with breakfast.

Bartender tips

  • Frozen blackberries make the smoothie colder and deepen the colour.
  • If it is too tart, a teaspoon of honey or agave syrup balances it.

Variations

Milder version
Use a sweet red apple instead of the green one for a softer, less tangy smoothie.
