Creamy and sweet with vanilla-like cherimoya, bright strawberry and juicy pear.

About this smoothie

Cherimoya comes originally from the Andes and is grown today in Spain, South America and other warm regions. Its flesh is creamy and sweet, but the large black seeds must be removed as they are not edible. It is ripe when the skin yields slightly to pressure, similar to an avocado.

Strawberries add colour and acidity, the pear extra juice. The smoothie is dessert-like and fits a relaxed breakfast or an afternoon treat.

Bartender tips

  • Check carefully that no cherimoya seeds end up in the blender; they are inedible.
  • An unripe cherimoya ripens in a few days at room temperature.

Variations

With banana
If cherimoya is hard to find, use half a banana and a drop of vanilla instead.
