Avocado Smoothie with Pineapple

Pineapple alone is juicy but thin; avocado gives it body. Together they make a smoothie that is creamy and tangy at the same time, with a soft pale green colour.

Avocado Smoothie with Pineapple

Taste

Creamy and tangy, with juicy pineapple up front and a soft, buttery finish from the avocado.

About this smoothie

This smoothie pairs two very different fruits. Pineapple provides sweetness, acidity, lots of juice and vitamin C. Avocado has almost no sweetness of its own but a buttery texture and is known for its monounsaturated fat. The combination tastes clearly of pineapple, only rounder and silkier.

With three ingredients and no dairy, it is quick to make and naturally vegan. It works as a light breakfast or a satisfying snack on a warm day.

Bartender tips

  • Frozen pineapple chunks make the smoothie cold and thick.
  • A squeeze of lime keeps the avocado from browning and freshens the taste.

Variations

With spinach
Add 15 g baby spinach for a brighter green colour with hardly any change in taste.

Frequently asked questions

Does it taste of avocado?

Barely. Pineapple dominates; avocado mainly adds creaminess.

Is this smoothie vegan?

Yes, it contains only fruit and water.

Can I use canned pineapple?

Yes, drained pineapple in juice works, but the smoothie will be sweeter and less fresh.
