Raspberry Spinach Smoothie with Passion Fruit

Raspberries and passion fruit are both tart and fragrant, and together they taste like a summer sorbet in liquid form. A little spinach blends in unnoticed.

Raspberry Spinach Smoothie with Passion Fruit

Taste

Light and tangy with intense raspberry flavour, a tropical passion fruit note and small crunchy seeds.

About this smoothie

This is a light, tangy smoothie for people who like fruit that bites back a little. Raspberries bring a floral, sweet and sour flavour, plenty of fibre and vitamin C. Passion fruit adds a perfumed, tropical acidity, and baby spinach contributes folate and vitamin K while staying almost invisible behind the red fruit. With only water as liquid, the drink stays light and refreshing, ideal on a warm day or as a lively start to the morning.

Bartender tips

  • Frozen raspberries work just as well and make the smoothie colder and thicker.
  • If you find it too tart, blend in half a banana or a teaspoon of honey.

Variations

With coconut water
Use coconut water instead of plain water for a softer, slightly sweeter version.

Frequently asked questions

Are the raspberry seeds a problem?

No. They blend down well; strain the smoothie through a sieve if you want it completely smooth.

Is it vegan?

Yes. It contains only fruit, spinach and water.

Can I prepare it ahead?

It is best fresh; after a few hours it separates and loses aroma.
