Blackberry Banana Smoothie with Mint Tea

Blackberries and peppermint make a surprisingly fresh combination, a little like a berry sorbet with mint. Banana and yogurt round it off and keep it creamy.

About this smoothie

Frozen blackberries give this smoothie an intense purple colour and a pleasantly tart taste. Blackberries are known as a good source of fibre and vitamin C. Half a banana adds sweetness and body, and a little natural yogurt gives a creamy, tangy texture. Peppermint tea replaces milk or juice and adds a cool herbal note without sugar or caffeine. The smoothie suits a summer breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Bartender tips

  • Blackberry seeds are firm: a longer blend or a high-speed blender gives the smoothest result.
  • If the drink is too tart, add a teaspoon of honey.

Variations

Blueberry version
Replace the blackberries with frozen blueberries for a sweeter, milder drink.
