Thick and creamy with sweet pear and banana, a mild nutty depth and a gentle yoghurt tang.

About this smoothie

Banana and pear are a soft, naturally sweet base that blends into a creamy texture without any sugar. Whole nuts make a smoothie more filling: they bring protein, fibre and mostly unsaturated fats, plus a toasty, nutty depth. A strong blender turns them almost completely smooth, especially if they are soaked first. Cashews are soft and mild and give an almost cream-like texture. Natural yoghurt and milk contribute protein and calcium and make the smoothie a proper breakfast. A good choice before a long morning or after exercise.

Bartender tips

  • Soak the nuts in water for a few hours or overnight, drain them, and the smoothie will be noticeably smoother.
  • For a lighter version, replace half of the milk with water.

Variations

With honey and cinnamon
Add a teaspoon of honey and a pinch of cinnamon for a dessert-like version.
