Creamy Orange Coconut Smoothie

Orange and coconut sounds like a holiday, and this glass delivers just that. Coconut milk rounds off the acidity of the juice, while a small amount of spinach disappears into the background.

About this smoothie

Coconut milk gives this smoothie a soft, creamy texture without any dairy. Use a drinking coconut milk from a carton here; canned coconut milk is much richer and would make the drink heavy. The baby spinach adds a little green goodness but hardly changes the taste, since the orange dominates.

The smoothie is mild enough for people new to green smoothies and works well at breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

Bartender tips

  • If you only have canned coconut milk, use 50 ml and top up with 100 ml water.
  • Blend the spinach with the juice first, then add the coconut milk for a smoother texture.

Variations

Tropical
Add 80 g diced mango for a thicker, sweeter version.

Frequently asked questions

Can I taste the spinach?

Hardly. With this small amount the orange and coconut clearly dominate.

Is it vegan?

Yes, as long as you use plant based coconut milk, which it naturally is.

Can I use canned coconut milk?

Yes, but dilute it with water, as it is far richer than the drinking kind.
