Pear Smoothie with Rice Milk and Sultanas

Avocado makes this pear smoothie velvety without tasting of itself, and a few sultanas add a honeyed, raisin sweetness. Rice milk keeps it mild.

About this smoothie

Sultanas are dried white grapes and taste sweeter and more delicate than dark raisins; a few of them are enough to sweeten a whole glass. Ripe pear provides juice and fibre, and half an avocado gives the drink a creamy texture and mostly unsaturated fats. Rice milk is naturally sweet and light. The result is a mild, soft smoothie that suits breakfast and works well in autumn and winter.

Bartender tips

  • Soaked sultanas blend much more smoothly.
  • A pinch of cinnamon suits the pear and raisin flavour very well.

Variations

Oat version
Use oat milk instead of rice milk for a slightly fuller taste.
