Kiwi Papaya Smoothie with Baby Banana

Ripe papaya has a buttery, melon like sweetness, and kiwi gives it the acidity it lacks. A baby banana, small and especially sweet, rounds the glass off.

Kiwi Papaya Smoothie with Baby Banana

Taste

Soft and tropical, with sweet papaya, tart kiwi and a creamy banana finish.

About this smoothie

Papaya is a tropical fruit with soft orange flesh and a mild, musky sweetness. It contains the enzyme papain and is a source of vitamin C and beta carotene. On its own it can taste a little flat, so the tart kiwi is a good partner. Baby bananas are smaller and often sweeter than regular bananas; half a normal banana works just as well. This smoothie is light, fruity and gentle, a nice breakfast in warm weather.

Bartender tips

  • A ripe papaya yields slightly to pressure and has yellow skin; green papaya tastes bland.
  • A squeeze of lime lifts the papaya flavour noticeably.

Variations

Papaya lime
Add 1 tbsp lime juice and skip the agave syrup for a fresher version.
