On a hot day there is little more refreshing than cold watermelon. Blended with a ripe pear, it becomes a light, pink smoothie that drinks almost like juice.

Pear Watermelon Smoothie
Taste
Light, juicy and refreshing, sweet watermelon with a soft pear note; thin rather than creamy.
About this smoothie
Watermelon consists of more than 90 percent water, so it blends into a thin, juicy and very refreshing base. It is sweet, mild and provides some vitamin C. A ripe pear adds body, fibre and a softer, rounder sweetness, so the drink does not feel watery. Only a little extra water is needed. The smoothie is best on hot summer days, after exercise or as a light alternative to sweet soft drinks.
Bartender tips
Freeze the watermelon cubes for an icy, slushy version.
Use well chilled melon straight from the fridge; the smoothie tastes best very cold.
Variations
With lime
Add a squeeze of lime juice for a fresher, slightly tart finish.
