Papaya and Mint Smoothie

Mint and papaya sound like an unusual pair, but the cool herb lifts the soft, honeyed fruit beautifully. The colour is a warm coral, the finish fresh and clean.

About this smoothie

Ripe papaya has a soft, buttery texture and a mild sweetness that can taste a little flat on its own. Fresh mint changes that: its cool, aromatic note makes the fruit taste brighter and more refreshing. Papaya is known for its vitamin C, and an optional squeeze of lime adds a gentle acidity.

The smoothie is light and vegan. It is especially good on hot days or after a spicy meal.

Bartender tips

  • Start with a few mint leaves and add more to taste; mint can dominate quickly.
  • Frozen papaya chunks make it colder and thicker.

Variations

With coconut
Replace the water with coconut water for a slightly sweeter, more tropical glass.

Both work; spearmint is milder and sweeter.

Can I prepare it ahead?

It is best fresh, as papaya can turn slightly bitter over time.
