Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie with Apple and Berries

Fresh strawberries and frozen berries give this smoothie colour and chill, and a crisp apple adds juice. A few spoons of yogurt make it creamy without milk.

About this smoothie

This smoothie combines two kinds of fruit that are always easy to find: apples all year and berries fresh or frozen. The apple brings juice, fibre and a mild sweetness, the berries colour and tartness.

Using water with just a little yogurt keeps the smoothie light, while the frozen berries make it cold and thick. The old recipe used pears; they work just as well and make it a little sweeter.

Bartender tips

  • A sweet apple variety such as Gala or Pink Lady balances the tart berries.
  • Use milk instead of water for a creamier, richer smoothie.

Variations

With pear
Swap the apple for a ripe pear for a softer, sweeter taste.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to peel the apple?

No, just wash it well. The peel adds fibre and blends finely.

Can I use only fresh berries?

Yes, but add a few ice cubes to keep it cold and thick.

Can I make it vegan?

Yes, with a plant-based yogurt alternative.
