Lime Berry Smoothie

This is a smoothie for people who like it tart. Lime sharpens the berries, and the spinach disappears completely behind their deep colour.

About this smoothie

Frozen mixed berries are practical all year and are picked when ripe. Here they are paired with a generous amount of lime juice, which gives the drink a sharp, refreshing profile. A handful of baby spinach adds greens without changing the flavour, since the berries dominate colour and taste. Berries and lime both contribute vitamin C. With water as the liquid, the smoothie stays light. It is ideal on a hot day or after exercise.

Bartender tips

  • Start with half the lime juice and add more to taste.
  • Half a banana makes the smoothie creamier and milder if it is too sour for you.

Variations

Creamy version
Replace half the water with natural yoghurt.
