Date Almond Milk Smoothie with Yoghurt

About this smoothie

Dates have been used as a natural sweetener for centuries, and in smoothies they add a toffee-like depth. Medjool dates are especially soft and blend easily. Almond milk keeps the drink light while adding a subtle nutty flavour, and natural yoghurt balances the sweetness with some tang. Blueberries bring colour and a hint of acidity.

The smoothie is fairly sweet and filling, so it works well for breakfast or as a snack before sport.

Bartender tips

  • Medjool dates are soft and blend best; drier varieties should be soaked first.
  • Unsweetened almond milk is enough here, the dates bring plenty of sweetness.

Variations

Date cinnamon
Leave out the blueberries and add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm, autumnal glass.
