About this smoothie

Pear and hazelnut are a familiar pairing from autumn baking. Ripe pears supply juicy sweetness, and hazelnuts add healthy fats, protein and a mild, slightly toasty flavour that goes perfectly with cinnamon.

With yogurt and milk it becomes a creamy breakfast that is more filling than a pure fruit smoothie. It suits cooler mornings, but is just as good cold from the fridge on a warm day.

Bartender tips

  • Toast the hazelnuts in a dry pan until fragrant, then let them cool: the flavour becomes much stronger.
  • A tablespoon of hazelnut butter is a quick substitute for whole nuts.

Variations

With oats
Add 2 tbsp rolled oats for a more filling breakfast.
