Raspberry Smoothie with Grapefruit

This smoothie is for people who like tart flavours. Grapefruit brings a slight bitterness, raspberries sharp fruitiness and the pear just enough sweetness to balance both.

About this smoothie

Grapefruit is known for its bittersweet taste and is a good source of vitamin C, as are raspberries. Combined, they make a bright, tangy drink with a deep pink colour. A ripe pear rounds off the acidity and gives the smoothie body without the need for sugar.

It suits the morning when you want something that wakes you up. Please note: grapefruit can interact with a number of medicines, so if you take regular medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before drinking it often.

Bartender tips

  • Pink or ruby grapefruit is sweeter and less bitter than white grapefruit.
  • If it is too tart, add half a banana or a teaspoon of honey.

Variations

Milder
Replace the grapefruit with an orange for a sweeter, less bitter smoothie.
