About this smoothie

Grapefruit is known for its vitamin C and for its characteristic bitterness, which comes from natural compounds in the fruit. Pomegranate seeds add a fruity tartness and colour, while a ripe pear brings sweetness and body.\n\nThe smoothie is fresh and not very sweet, good for the morning. Grapefruit can interact with a number of medications, so if you take any regularly, check with your doctor or pharmacist before drinking grapefruit.

Bartender tips

  • Pink or red grapefruit is sweeter and less bitter than white.
  • Strain it through a sieve if you prefer it without pomegranate seed bits.

Variations

Honey sweet
Add 1 tsp honey if the grapefruit is very bitter.
