Apple Pear Smoothie with Berry Mix and Spinach
Taste
Fruity and tart with a cold, thick body; the spinach is hardly noticeable.
About this smoothie
This is a good first green smoothie for anyone who is not sure about leaves in a drink. Baby spinach has a very mild flavor, and the dark berries cover its color. Apple and pear supply sweetness and juiciness, the berries add acidity and a cold, thick texture.
Berries such as blueberries and raspberries are rich in fiber, and baby spinach contributes vitamin K and folate. Because the berries are frozen, you do not need ice, and the smoothie stays cold for longer. It suits a quick breakfast or a snack after a workout.
Bartender tips
Blending spinach with the liquid first gives a smoother result in weaker blenders.
If the berries are very tart, a soft date or 1 tsp honey balances them.
Variations
Creamier version
Swap the water for oat milk or add 2 tbsp natural yogurt.
Frequently asked questions
Will I taste the spinach?

Can I use fresh berries?
Yes, but the smoothie will be thinner and less cold; add two or three ice cubes if you like.
