Spinach Kiwi Smoothie

A properly green smoothie with two kinds of leaves. The kiwi keeps it fresh and tangy, and half a banana makes it smooth and softly sweet.

About this smoothie

This recipe combines baby spinach with lamb's lettuce, two mild leaves that are well suited to smoothies. Kiwis are rich in vitamin C and give the drink a lively acidity that balances the green flavour. The banana provides sweetness and a creamy texture, so no sweetener is needed. With water as the base it stays light, a good choice for breakfast or after a workout.

Bartender tips

  • A ripe kiwi yields slightly to pressure; hard kiwis make the smoothie sour.
  • Freeze the banana in pieces for a colder, thicker smoothie.

Variations

Tropical green
Replace the banana with 80 g mango for a sweeter, more exotic version.
