Breakfast Smoothie with Macadamia Nuts

Macadamias are the softest of all nuts, so they blend into a smoothie almost without a trace, leaving only a buttery richness. Banana and oats turn it into a proper breakfast.

About this smoothie

Macadamia nuts come originally from Australia and have a mild, buttery taste with less bitterness than walnuts. They are rich in fat, mostly monounsaturated, so a small amount is enough.

With oats, banana and oat drink the smoothie becomes a creamy, filling breakfast that tastes almost like dessert without added sugar. A spoon of yogurt keeps it from tasting flat.

Bartender tips

  • Unsalted macadamias are essential, salted snack nuts make the smoothie taste odd.
  • A pinch of cinnamon or a little vanilla suits the buttery flavour well.

Variations

Tropical twist
Add 60 g mango for a fruitier, more tropical breakfast.
