About this smoothie

This is the basic version of the breakfast smoothie: fruit, grain and dairy in one glass. Rolled oats provide fibre and keep you full, yoghurt and milk add protein and creaminess, and banana and pear bring a gentle, natural sweetness.

Because there are no strong flavours, it is easy to adapt with cinnamon, berries or a spoon of nut butter. It suits children as well as adults and works for anyone who has little time or appetite early in the day.

Bartender tips

  • A pinch of cinnamon suits the pear very well.
  • Use very ripe fruit and you will not need any honey.

Variations

With nut butter
Blend in a teaspoon of almond or peanut butter for a nuttier, richer version.
