Breakfast Smoothie with Frozen Berries

Everything a quick breakfast needs goes into the blender at once: fruit, oats, yoghurt and milk. Frozen berries keep it cold and give it a deep berry colour.

About this smoothie

This smoothie is designed as a full breakfast rather than a light drink. Rolled oats bring fibre and make it filling, yoghurt and milk add protein, and banana and pear supply natural sweetness.

Frozen mixed berries are handy because they are available all year and chill the smoothie without ice. The mix of water and milk keeps the texture creamy but not too heavy. Pour it into a jar and it travels well to the office or the gym.

Bartender tips

  • Let the oats soak in the liquid for a few minutes before blending for a finer texture.
  • Frozen berries straight from the freezer make ice unnecessary.

Variations

Vegan
Use oat milk and plant yoghurt and sweeten with agave syrup.
