Avocado Raspberry Smoothie with Apple
Taste
Silky and creamy, with tangy raspberry, a fresh apple sweetness and a subtle buttery background.
About this smoothie
Here the avocado supplies creaminess and mostly unsaturated fat, which makes the drink more filling, while raspberries bring a bright, sharp fruit flavor and plenty of fiber. The red apple is the difference from the simpler version: it adds natural sweetness and juice, so the smoothie tastes rounder and fruitier.
The original recipe called for a whole avocado per glass; half is enough for a silky texture without heaviness. Choose an avocado that yields slightly to gentle pressure. Drink it fresh, as avocado discolors within a few hours. Good as a breakfast or an afternoon snack.
Bartender tips
Frozen raspberries give a colder, thicker smoothie and are often cheaper.
A few drops of lemon juice help the smoothie keep its color a little longer.
Variations
With spinach
Add a small handful (15 g) of baby spinach; the raspberries still dominate the color.
Frequently asked questions
Does the smoothie taste of avocado?
Only faintly; it mainly provides creaminess.
Can I prepare it ahead?
It is best fresh, as avocado turns brownish after a few hours.
