Avocado Raspberry Smoothie with Spinach and Banana
Raspberries give this smoothie a lively tartness and a pink colour, the avocado a smooth, almost mousse like body. A little spinach and half a banana round it out without making it sweet.

Avocado Raspberry Smoothie with Spinach and Banana
Taste
Creamy and tangy, with fresh raspberry acidity over a smooth avocado base; only lightly sweet.
About this smoothie
Raspberries and avocado are a less obvious pair than banana and berries, but they work well: the fat in the avocado softens the berries' sharp acidity and carries their aroma. Raspberries are rich in fibre and provide vitamin C. Baby spinach blends in almost invisibly, and half a banana adds just enough sweetness. The result is a smoothie that is not very sweet, a good choice for anyone who finds fruit smoothies too sugary. It fits breakfast or a light snack.
Bartender tips
If the smoothie is too tart, add the other half of the banana or 1 tsp honey.
Frozen raspberries make it thicker and colder.
Variations
Raspberry chocolate
Blend in 1 tsp cocoa powder for a dessert like version.
