Avocado Lychee Smoothie

Lychees taste faintly of roses and grapes, and even three of them perfume the whole glass. Avocado makes it creamy, a red apple adds crunch turned juice, and the spinach stays in the background.

Avocado Lychee Smoothie

Taste

Creamy and fresh, with floral lychee, juicy apple and a soft green background.

About this smoothie

Lychees come originally from southern China and are now grown in many tropical and subtropical regions. Under the rough, reddish shell sits translucent white flesh with a perfumed, sweet taste and a large brown stone that must be removed. They are a source of vitamin C. In this smoothie they give a floral note that works surprisingly well with avocado and apple. It is a mild green smoothie for anyone who wants something a little different for breakfast.

Bartender tips

  • Canned lychees work too; drain them and use 4, as they are softer and sweeter.
  • Blend the apple with the water first if your blender struggles with hard fruit.

Variations

Lychee lime
Add 1 tbsp lime juice for a sharper, more refreshing finish.
