Extra Creamy Avocado Banana Smoothie

This version turns the usual ratio around: more avocado, less banana. The result is a thick, velvety glass with a buttery taste and only a light sweetness.

Extra Creamy Avocado Banana Smoothie

Taste

Very thick and velvety, buttery and mild, with a light banana sweetness.

About this smoothie

Most avocado smoothies use the avocado as a supporting player; here it is the main ingredient. A whole avocado provides a lot of monounsaturated fat and makes the drink rich and filling, close to a small meal. Half a banana adds just enough sweetness, and agave syrup is there if you want more. Because the flavour is so mild, it is a good base for additions such as cocoa, lime or vanilla. Drink it fresh, as avocado darkens once cut.

Bartender tips

  • Add a squeeze of lime to slow browning and freshen the taste.
  • If it is too thick, add water in 30 ml steps.

Variations

Chocolate avocado
Blend in 1 tbsp cocoa powder and 1 tsp extra agave syrup for a mousse like drink.
