About this smoothie

Rocket belongs to the cabbage and mustard family and has a distinctly peppery flavour; baby spinach is much milder. Together they give this smoothie a strong green character. A ripe pear adds juicy sweetness and some body, but the drink stays savoury rather than fruity. It is light and refreshing and suits people who already enjoy green smoothies. Beginners may prefer the spinach apple version.

Bartender tips

  • A very ripe pear makes the smoothie sweeter and smoother; hard pears leave it grainy.
  • If the rocket is too strong, replace half of it with more spinach.

Variations

Fruitier version
Add half a banana or half an apple for more sweetness.

Frequently asked questions

Is the smoothie bitter?

Rocket adds a peppery, slightly bitter edge. The pear balances it, and a ripe fruit helps most.

Is it vegan?

Yes, all ingredients are plant based.

Can I use an apple instead of the pear?

Yes, a sweet red apple works well and makes it a little crisper.
