Lamb's Lettuce Cherimoya Smoothie

Cherimoya is often called the custard apple, and for good reason: its white flesh tastes of pear, banana and vanilla cream. Blended with milk and a little lamb's lettuce, it makes a very gentle green smoothie.

About this smoothie

Cherimoya is a subtropical fruit originally from the Andes region of South America. Its soft, creamy flesh is naturally sweet, while the large black seeds are not edible and must be removed completely. Lamb's lettuce adds a mild, nutty green note, and almond drink plus whole milk create a creamy base. The original recipe name mentions lamb's lettuce, so it is used here. A mild, dessert-like smoothie for breakfast.

Bartender tips

  • Cherimoya is ripe when it yields to gentle pressure like a ripe avocado; the skin may darken.
  • Never blend the seeds: they are hard and not edible.

Variations

With baby spinach
Use baby spinach instead of lamb's lettuce for a slightly milder green note.
