About this smoothie

Coconut milk is made from the pressed flesh of the coconut and is much richer than coconut water. For smoothies, a ready-made coconut drink from the carton is easiest; canned coconut milk should be diluted about half and half with water.

Together with oats it makes a filling, dairy-free breakfast. Kiwi adds vitamin C and freshness, pear brings a gentle sweetness.

Bartender tips

  • Canned coconut milk is very rich; mix 100 ml with 100 ml water for a balanced smoothie.
  • A squeeze of lime brings out the kiwi and lightens the coconut.

Variations

With pineapple
Replace the pear with 80 g fresh pineapple for a more tropical taste.

Frequently asked questions

Is it vegan?

Yes, coconut milk, oats and fruit are all plant based.

Can I use canned coconut milk?

Yes, but dilute it with the same amount of water, otherwise the smoothie is very heavy.

Can I prepare it ahead?

It is best fresh. In a closed jar it keeps a few hours in the fridge, but it thickens as the oats swell.
