Berry Yoghurt Smoothie with Coconut Milk

Frozen berries turn this smoothie cold, thick and a deep berry pink in seconds. Pear adds natural sweetness, and yoghurt with coconut milk gives it a creamy, slightly tangy body.

About this smoothie

Mixed berries such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and redcurrants are frozen at peak ripeness and are a convenient way to have berries all year. They bring colour, fruity acidity and fibre. The pear balances their tartness, while yoghurt adds a fresh tang and some protein.

This smoothie is filling enough for breakfast and also works well after sport. Because the berries are frozen, you do not need any ice.

Bartender tips

  • Let the berries thaw for five minutes if your blender struggles with frozen fruit.
  • Taste before serving; very tart berries may need a teaspoon of honey.

Variations

Vegan
Replace the yoghurt with coconut or soy yoghurt.

Frequently asked questions

Is it vegan?

Not with dairy yoghurt; use a plant based yoghurt to make it vegan.

Can I use fresh berries?

Yes, but add a few ice cubes for the same cold, thick texture.

Which berries work best?

Any mix works; raspberries and blackberries have more seeds, blueberries make it smoother.
