A couple of spoons of yogurt give this dark berry smoothie a pleasant tang and a creamier body. Oat milk keeps it drinkable and lightly sweet.

About this smoothie

Yogurt and berries are a classic breakfast pairing, and in a smoothie they work just as well. The yogurt adds lactic tang and a little protein, which makes the drink more filling than a pure fruit smoothie.

Blueberries bring sweetness and blackberries tartness; both get their dark colour from anthocyanins. Oat milk adds a mild cereal sweetness. Taste before adding agave syrup, as ripe berries are often sweet enough.

Bartender tips

  • Greek yogurt makes the smoothie thicker, almost spoonable.
  • Use frozen berries for a cold, thick texture.

Variations

Vegan version
Replace the natural yogurt with soy or oat yogurt.
