About this smoothie

Strawberry banana is probably the most popular smoothie combination of all, and for good reason: the berries bring juicy acidity and colour, the banana creaminess and sweetness. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C. Oat milk has a naturally mild, slightly sweet taste that suits the fruit well and makes the smoothie suitable for a dairy free diet.

It fits breakfast, an afternoon snack or a quick drink after sport. In strawberry season use ripe local berries; the rest of the year frozen strawberries give a better flavour than pale imported fruit.

Bartender tips

  • Frozen strawberries make a thick, frosty smoothie without ice.
  • If the berries are tart, a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup helps.

Variations

With vanilla
Add a few drops of vanilla extract for a smoothie that tastes like strawberry ice cream.
