Clove and lime from the falernum, a hint of anise, bright orange and the deep funk of Jamaican rum, all ice cold and bristling with spice. It is a Tiki drink with real bite.

Cobra's Fang
Taste
Spiced and citrusy with rich rum, clove, anise and a dry finish. Strong.
History and origin
The Cobra's Fang is one of the original Tiki drinks credited to Donn Beach, the founder of Don the Beachcomber in Hollywood, and is generally dated to the late 1930s. Like many of his recipes it was kept secret and written in code, and it was largely forgotten after the Tiki era faded.
The drink was brought back by Tiki historian Jeff "Beachbum" Berry, whose research into old notebooks and former bartenders recovered many of Donn Beach's recipes. It uses classic Tiki building blocks: a blend of rums, falernum for spice, fresh citrus and a few drops of absinthe and bitters, flash blended with crushed ice so it arrives frosty and slightly diluted.
Bartender tips
Keep the blending short: longer turns it into a slushy and washes out the flavors.
If you cannot find fassionola, use a little passion fruit syrup with a drop of grenadine.
Slap the mint sprig before garnishing to release its aroma.
