The Springbokkie, Afrikaans for "little springbok", is a popular shooter in South Africa. The springbok is the country's national animal and gives its name to the national rugby team, and the drink copies the team's green and gold colours.
It combines green crème de menthe with Amarula, a South African cream liqueur made with the fruit of the marula tree. Some versions use a different cream liqueur, and the ratio of the two layers varies a lot from bar to bar; a larger mint layer with a thinner cream top is common.
It is especially popular when the Springboks are playing, as a celebratory round.
It is Afrikaans for "little springbok", the national animal of South Africa and the name of its rugby team.
