The Orgasm is one of the provocatively named drinks that became popular in bars in the 1980s, alongside cousins such as the Screaming Orgasm and the Slippery Nipple. Names like these were part of the fun and marketing of that era's liqueur-based drinks, and precise origins are rarely documented.
There are several recipes under this name. The simplest, used here, combines orange liqueur with Irish cream liqueur and is served either on the rocks or layered as a shooter. Another widespread version mixes Irish cream with amaretto and coffee liqueur, and the Screaming Orgasm adds vodka to that mix. What they share is a creamy, sweet profile built on liqueurs rather than a base spirit.
